Made in the Midlands member, Fourmasters, have joined the ventilator challenge and are making vital components for them. They will also be manufacturing parts to help the critical testing of the ventilators.
Fourmasters Limited, established in 1988, has gone from strength to strength within the world of manufacturing.
They have the ability to offer a complete service from the design and manufacture of a new press tool through to the final pressing. Their in house design facility enables them to balance tool and component costs in order to deliver high-quality economic solutions to suit clients requirements.
Wolverhampton based manufacturer Fourmasters was appointed to join the ventilator challenge by GKN recently. The manufacturing firm began producing sets of fixtures that will be used in the building and testing of the ventilators. The work for these fixtures started in the last week of March, since then the firm has been approached by other major clients including Rolls Royce.
So far the firm has made around 6 sets each consisting of 8 components vital for the production ventilators and is set to make more in the coming weeks. Mark Cox, Managing Director at Fourmasters said:
“We felt very proud when we were asked to join the challenge, especially as one of our customers has asked us to do this. This shows that we are known for reliability and that we never promise anything we can't achieve.”
Though the company has adapted the way they work in order to fulfil the request, they are also carrying out other work as usual. They are currently still manufacturing goods for GKN and an aerospace customer, who have allowed them to prioritise the ventilator work.
Fourmasters is one of the fewer companies who haven’t furloughed any staff due to a flexible workforce, however, still, have social distance and sanitary measures in place. Offering advice to other manufacturing firms still open, Mark said:
“Keep the workforce positive and ensure to keep up social distance measures.”
